Barcelona teenage forward Lamine Yamal has the potential to become the greatest player in history, according to a Spanish legend.
Former Spain international David Silva has hailed 17-year-old Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal for his impressive displays at such a young age, and believes he has the potential to become the greatest player in history – although maintaining his level of play will not be easy, he told Diario AS on Saturday.
‘He is different today, he is a very young footballer but he plays with a lot of self-confidence and hopefully he can continue like this because he has the potential to be one of the best in history, although we know it will be very difficult to maintain that level, but he has a lot of talent and quality,’ Silva said of Yamal.
Silva also had his say on the Spanish national team, on the back of their Euro 2024 success in the summer. His believe is that they are more than capable of having another golden generation, like the one that the 38-year-old himself was a part of.
The 38-year-old former midfielder also spoke about Spain’s success at Euro 2024, saying: ‘They had a great European Championship, with great football, possession, they made us very happy. They deserved to win from the first game to the last.’
‘(Luis) De La Fuente has built a great group of players, Promotion Ufabet which is key to achieving success, with a lot of young players and the necessary experience.’
